Bullet originally appeared as a title for our catalog of “Pop Art” color images, where it initiated many more customer inquiries than the product it was advertising. At about the same time, type designer Tal Leming was visiting the studio and left with “Pop Art Font” as his first commission. After a few false starts and some naming hijinks, we settled on “Bullet” as an appropriate moniker for the family. Although inspired by connecting script lettering that characterized metal nameplates on industrial products during the early 20th century, Bullet escapes classification and maintains universal appeal. Bullet finds itself tradin’ paint for NASCAR, building muscle for weight-gain formula and doing titling duty for the latest action thriller. You, however, are a smart designer and your font buying process has not been swayed by these mass-market cultural inputs.
