Marilyn Neuhart on the Textile & Objects store: Girard had a dream to have a store that would offer the fabrics that he was doing for Herman Miller to the general public. He wanted to be able to have people walk in and buy a yard or two...it was a new concept for Herman Miller. Girard persisted and they kept it going for nearly three years. In the end, I think it was way before its time. After Herman Miller closed the T & O store down, they had little corners in the showrooms with a few pieces of folk art and the dolls.
