Ducati Factory MotoGP team rider and Alpinestars athlete Nicky Hayden celebrated his return to his home race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with a new House Industries interpretation of his Kentucky Kid moniker.
Hayden, an Owensboro, Kentucky native, is a member of the Ducati factory MotoGP team and was the 2006 MotoGP World Champion.
After discussing several options at the Laguna Seca MotoGP race in July, Hayden and House chose one of its timeless lettering styles with a heavy drop shadow to provide maximum contrast and readability from a distance as well as at speed. The logo gives a subtle nod to motor culture and rises from House’s explorations in classic studio lettering techniques over the last two decades.
House Industries, the worldwide leader in high performance custom lettering and typography, worked closely with the artisans and technicians from Alpinestars in Italy to optimize the proportions and positioning on the suit.
As part of Alpinestars Apex Initiative, the House Industries Kentucky Kid project came together in an unprecedented union of typography, lettering, design and racing.
House Industries is a unique oasis of typography and design that stands out in a cultural continuum of endless electronic effluvia. From their sketchpads, pencils, pens, brushes and bezier curves flow their passion for authenticity and integrity. House Industries fonts scream from billboards, wish happy whatever from tens of thousands of greeting cards, serve as the basis for consumer product logos and add elements of style to a wide range of mainstream media. House artists have mastered a large cross-section of design disciplines, transcending graphic conventions and reaching out to a broad audience. What ultimately shines in the House Industries oeuvre is what always conquers mediocrity: a genuine love for their subject matter. More information is available here: http://www.houseind.com/about.
