House Industries is descending on Reserve Gallery with a batch of freshly printed wood serigraphs. Macro and micro letter-based elements, furniture-grade plywood, David Dodde’s steady squeegee hand and screen printing inks create a typographic terrine drawn from House Industries’ vast warehouse of alphabetic anomalies.
As part of the two-month exhibition, Reserve owner Rick Klotz is also designing several products that are available exclusively at the gallery store in West Hollywood.
“We made a bunch of buttons,” commented Klotz when asked about product specifics. “Some tees and totes too. What else do kids need these days? I didn’t wear pants for a year while I was surfing in Cuba, but I sure needed a good bag.”
Reserve is located at 420 N. Fairfax Blvd. in West Hollywood, Calif.
House Industries is a unique oasis of typography and design that stands out in a cultural continuum of endless electronic effluvia. From their sketchpads, pencils, pens, brushes and bezier curves flow their passion for authenticity and integrity. House Industries fonts scream from billboards, wish happy whatever from tens of thousands of greeting cards, serve as the basis for consumer product logos and add elements of style to a wide range of mainstream media. House artists have mastered a large cross-section of design disciplines, transcending graphic conventions and reaching out to a broad audience. What ultimately shines in the House Industries oeuvre is what always conquers mediocrity: a genuine love for their subject matter. More information is available here: http://www.houseind.com/about.
Opened in 2006, Reserve serves as the cultural and referential front to the Freshjive Manufacturing Company, the Warriors of Radness and Rick Klotz’s endless supply of graphic design books. It is located in the heart of West Hollywood at 420 N. Fairfax Ave. More information is available here: http://www.reservela.net/about/
