As a type designer, I’ve gotten used to seeing my typefaces in use from time to time. But every now and then I see something that freaks me out. That happened last Sunday when I turned on the TV to watch part of the Iggles vs. Giants game*. Lo and behold, FOX has deployed United for almost all of the on-screen text in their NFL coverage. It’s being used for the stats, the scores, the player names and, most amazingly, the down-and-distance arrow that is superimposed onto the field. Tune in to FOX to see it all in action. Go Saints!
Special thanks to Robert Howell for setting me up with these screen grabs and for doing such a great job with the graphics.
*Chris, What the heck happened to the Iggles!?
