As the kids line up at London’s TopShop in anticipation of the May 1 relese of the new Kate Moss clothing line, we thought we should give you a little background on the logo. It is set in an alphabet called “Brodovitch Albro” originally drawn by designer Alexey Brodovitch and eventually found its way into the Photo-Lettering collection. Paul Barnes called us about a year ago to see if he could use the original film as a basis to create a font for a small project. Urban legend has it that Kate saw Barnes’ version of the font in use and requested that it be used for her logo.
Thanks to Paul, the Brodovitch Albro alphabet will be available later this year when Photo-Lettering reopens.
