I had originally posted this image thinking that it was from a Photo-Lettering competitor. However, I came across the original the other day and noticed that it is indeed from a specimen book published by Typographic Service, a division of Electrographic Corporation (the parent company who owned PLINC). In fact, it was Amos Bethke and C.E. Ruckstuhl of Typographic Service who were instrumental in Electrographic opening the company’s new subsidiary, aptly called Photo-Lettering, Inc. While the TS monogram remains reminiscent of Benguiat’s work, you can take a gander at some certified Ed goodness here.
