Like any fish story, this one will keep getting better.
We first use various woods from renewable, reclaimed or sustainable sources, the most appropriate of which is pine from 100-year-old logs fished out of the Grand River in Grand Rapids. They didn’t quite make their downriver journey to the awaiting furniture plants.
Then we kut each koi on a band saw, sand them and koat them furniture-grade lacquer.
David hand-pulls and air dries each one with our sushi-grade alphabetic accoutrements.
In the final step, the koi are flash frozen so they will be fresh for your holiday season. Stay tuned!
