Get ready to roll up your sleeves and dirty your mitts for a hands-on introductory typeface design workshop. Forget about aggravating software-troubleshooting headaches and the mind-numbing tedium of point-plotting; during this weekend seminar, participants will take a practical approach to type design by drawing, fabricating and implementing their own set of stencil letters. And while we may not get into the nitty-gritty of font editing, the basics of digital typography will be covered. There are still a few seats left—get ‘em while they last.

Wondering what to do on your summer vacation? Why not spend it drawing letters during a pair of back-to-back bicoastal workshops?! From June 3–8, I’ll be laying down the basics of display typeface design during a hands-on TypeCamp powwow in Templeton, CA. The following week, from June 12–15, I’m back at Cooper Union in NYC for a few days of logotype lettering instruction. So sign up now and kick off the summer right by cranking out some custom letterforms—registration is still open for both workshops!
Keep your eyes peeled for forthcoming House stationery like the notepad shown above. In the meantime, acquaint yourself with some other fine House Industries offerings.

When Erik van Blokland asked me to letter a certificate to be presented to my friend and colleague Tal Leming at the 2012 Robothon conference, I was honored to oblige. A key contributor to the UFO font data storage format, Tal was awarded the title Benevolent Dictator for Life by his peers and added to a growing list of esteemed software developers.
