Unstealable?

Mr. Jalopy was on a quest to create an unstealable bicycle, so of course he junked it up with some House stickers.

I had a little mishap last Friday while pushing my sweathog scooter a little too hard through a gravely right-hander in western North Carolina. A separated AC joint as well as a bruised rib or two was the result.

Things moved a little slow for me this week, but I was cheered today by our concerned colleagues to the north.

Dinner is served. Thanks guys!

Hope you didn’t try to get Andy or Adam on the phone this week. They were putting the final touches on the Letters & Ligatures show in Philly’s 222gallery. Join us Friday night, June 5 at 6 p.m.

For you drinkers, we even have our own booze sponsor. So look for the sign between 2nd and 3rd on Vine:

When Ken told me that his good friends Kaisa and Christoffer Leka were going to be in town, I thought it would be fun to do a little cycling photo shoot.

The Finns are avid cyclotourers, which in and of itself is not remarkable except for the fact that Kaisa is a double amputee.

So we geared them up in some of the latest House wool cycling jerseys and helped them sweat off their jet lag with a little run on the lightly-traveled roads around the studio.

It was a day of firsts. I’ve never had a picture-taking pillion and photographer Carlos Alejandro had never taken pictures from a pillion. Also neither Kaisa nor Leka have ever ridden a tandem. A typical House Industries project. (Dig the gold metalflake Ruby helmet. Thanks Jerome!)

It was a beautiful day, our models were troopers and Carlos shot off an amazing roll. I think this is where I goosed the throttle and almost threw Carlos off the back.

And this is the “Low Speed Clutch Feathering Filter”.

What a great day. Thanks guys!

The bill for the House Industries/Alexander Girard catalog and book. At 40 bucks, this book is a steal. Think we could work some of it off by redesigning Hank’s logo?
Those who know me well know that in the world of hipsterdom and high-end denim I am a miserable failure, just ask the kids who mused online about how the House33 gear could come out of a studio that includes the “dorky Rich Roat.” In any case, the folks at Tellason were kind enough to comp us a few pairs of their limited-run all-American Cone Mills white selvage (sp?) jeans because we helped them out with logo based on an alphabet from the Photo-Lettering collection. Here’s what they look like after Andy celebrates the brand newness of the Tanner Good’s leather tag stamped with PLINC’s Benguiat Buffalo.

When my fire pager goes off at 5:30 in the morning with a report of a house fire with subject trapped I tend to grab whatever is hanging on the hook in the bathroom, which happened to be the brand new Tellasons in their North Carolina denim San Francisco sewn glory. This is what they looked like after six hours under my bunker gear.

Sorry, Tony.

Some of the delicate strokes of Photo-Lettering’s West Emperor Script didn’t quite make the long trip back from California after the original Letters & Ligatures Show. Join us for East Coast opening at Philly’s 222gallery on Friday, June 5.

While Ken is dipping his toes in the Mediterranean and soaking up some Spanish sun, I will be extending the House Industries empire north to Winnipeg, Manitoba on Thursday, May 7 at 7:00 p.m. If you happen to be in this part of the world, check in with the folks in the design department at Red River Community College for more information.
